FABRICA 20100 [ Milano ] is an integral part of FABRICA, a survey on the working bodies. Repeated gestures creep into the folds of muscles, tendons, bones; work leaves a mark on a whole life’s body and soul. The body acts, suffers, resists with difficulty; the body transforms. The capital modifies the body through work, educates it, disciplines it according to a process of subjection to the capital itself. And when the capital – albeit not producing work – asks to fully adhere to its project, urging us to support its predatory thought, how do our bodies react? How do they act when forced to keep up with the latest trends? How many more selfies should we take? How many rhetorical words should we post on our social media? How many benches should we sit on before understanding we are the tools for fake consciences to clean up?
FABRICA 20100 [ Milano ] is a dystopic tale, a brand pursuit, a place close to desertification – little plants creep into cracks in asphalt and concrete – a place where people die on the streets and no one comes to their help, a place where work is an idea, where vegetation is an idea, a place where dissent is not an option.
